FIRS in collaboration with OSHAssociation organised a day workshop to Sensitise Contractors and Staff on HSE Standards

Following the need to ensure Health and Safety of Workers and check the high rate of incidents at workplaces, Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) in collaboration with Occupational Safety and Health Association UK – Nigeria Region (OSHAssociation) concluded a one day workshop to ensure all resident contractors and staff of FIRS maintain best Safety Standards and Compliance.

The Workshop which was held at the FIRS Headquarters in Abuja recently, was a huge success as all participants from various departments and contractors’ representatives were present to hear from the guest speaker on FIRS new HSE procedures for everyone.

Going further to discuss the pressing needs of HSE in their workplace, Director, HSE Unit highlighted some incidents that happened that has led to the death of so many workers. He further stressed that all contractors and theirs staff must ensure they comply with all the reviewed HSE policies of the organisation to ensure their safety and that of others.

The Guest Speaker, the Regional Administrator of OSHAssociation UK – Nigeria Region, Engr. Emmanuel Uwalaka made a technical paper presentation on “Implementation of HSE standards and compliance in FIRS Operations”, which was beckoned on FIRS new safety policies for all workers and he encouraged the staff and contractors to follow the rules deployed to ensure maximum compliance and standard.

It was an interactive session, with great attendance of participants, and the first of its kind in the history of FIRS in Nigeria.
